Peace Conference for Youths

Key Note Speaker: A.R.Khalid

Violent conflict is one of the greatest obstacles to human development, one which denies millions of people their right to live healthy lives, to send their children to school and to have equal opportunities to build livelihoods.
Conflict causes not only immediate suffering and depravation, but deepens poverty, inequality and economic stagnation, with youths the first victims.
We need to be actors in proactively preventing crisis and emergencies, and in working to create cultures of understanding and peace, not just responding during crisis. We youths are the most responsible to understand about the importance of Peace and we should be able to make other understand about it. So thats why Akala Youth Club (A.Y.C) is organizing a Peace Conference for youths. Please Join with Us!

After Winning 2nd Baireni Cricket Match!!

Eleven days of Open Inter Club Cricket league finally came to its end on Sept. 30th with “Akala Youth Club” of Galbubeshi coming out as Winner among 11 other teams. The tournament was organized by the ‘Baireni Youth Club’ of Vyas-5, Baireni, on the auspicious occasion of Dashain on their ground. Member of an Assembly Mr. Ramchandra Pokhrel attended the final match.

The finale was expected to be quite competitive but instead turned out to be very surprising as well as entertaining. The host who choosed to bat first winning the toss crumbled down with just 62 runs only on 11 overs and very confident winning team AKALA, who had brought some National T-20 Club players, entered to wrap-it-up-fast blasting the balls on just 6 overs but their plan soon nearly came to an end following their quick loss of wickets. But the cool thinking of no. 5 batsman slowing down put the great pressure on the bowlers and later went on to win the game with 5 wickets remaining.

Recently the Akala Cricket Club has come out strong and been dominating the cricket scenario in Damauli for quite long. On the previous Tournament too which was held at Damauli the club was the winner.

Later the award ceremony was held at the local school ground with big set-up, performances and later followed by the address from the former first City Mayor Tara Prasad Shrestha and other reputed people.

Second club, Baireni, were awarded with Rs. 10,000/- and the Winner Rs. 20,000/- of cheque along with certificates and medals to all the players. And the individual awards were:
Best Batsman of the Tournament – Rs. 3,000/-:

Buldi River Sanitation Program

On the occasion of 15th National Sanitation Week various organization like Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Ex-Army officers club, community development organizations, NGO’s and various other organizations join together with AYC to clean the Buldi River. Masks and hook used in that sanitation program was sponsored by Friends for peace building and development (FRI-PAD) and Gloves were sponsored by District Health office (DHO).
Buldi river which is flowing from our region is being polluted day by day and it’s the most important issue that we have to deal with: because no one is caring about this issue. The quality of the river and its surroundings has degraded substantially over the last two decades. More particularly, water quality near the place like Ghansikuwa, Taalghare, Galbubeshi, Maalebagar, Bagbajar, Amarapuri and Bhadgaun where people carry out washing and bathing and where untreated wastages are drained has deteriorated. The degraded state of the river and its tributaries is attributable to rapid changes in lifestyle and drastic increases in population.  Which has dramatically increased water use through the installation of flush toilets, washing machines and solar water heaters.  All three technologies contribute to individual comfort, it is true, but they also increase the volume of non consumptive and sanitary water used within a household.  Almost all of this water is converted to grey and black waters. AYC is acting seriously about this issue; we are planning to work with different NGO’s, INGO’s and Government Organization to save it from more pollution. If we care we can save it but if we don’t then in some days it’d  be like Bagmati and Bishnumati so please let’s think and act seriously.

The program was run by G.secretary of AYC.

AYC is working actively to solve the issue of various environmental pollution of our locality and to make this region an example of the aware and most clean society. At the first day 35 dustbins were placed in different places of Galbubeshi and on second day 5 more dustbins were kept.  Those dustbins distributed were kept only for the people who walk along the roads but not to keep the wastages of individual household.  Dustbins were sponsored by District forest office (DFO)-Tanahun. Women Empowerment Program-2070

Gender equality and women empowerment is not only the main issue and most important human rights of the latest context. It is the pathway to achieve the millennium development goals and sustainable development of our society and of our nation. Nepal is the country predominated by male in all major roles in the society. Women are only treated as a factory that produce children and they are limited only into household activities. We talk a lot about women issue but still they have no freedom and still
Education status of women in Nepal is very low. Nepal is the poorest country and listed in the third world country.
Due to conservative social structure still most of the women have no access to education and as a result they lack private/government jobs. As consequences, ultimately they should fully depend on their husband to run their family. If women got a chance then they can do anything; as we’ve seen lots of example. So there is no tool for development more effective than the empowerment of women. Akala Youth Club (A.Y.C) is providing some sorts of non formal education as awareness building training which is believed to increase the education level and would uplift the living standard of the women of our society. The ‘Women Empowerment Program’ was  for three weeks. This program was especially focused for the three women groups of Galbubeshi:

1)     Nava-Adarsha Aama Samuha-1st Week ( Total participant=70)
2)     Akala Aama Samuha-2nd Week (Total participant=45)
3)      Galbubeshi Aama Samuha-3rd Week ( Total Participant=48)

The main focus of the Women Empowerment Program was:

→ Stress Management
→ Art of Positive Thinking
→ Role of women in the Family
Bringing Harmony in Relationship
→ Balance of Health & Work
Time management
→ Voice against Women Violence etc;
